Volunteer Tasks and Assignments:

Below is a Detailed Overview of The Assignments on Build Day That Volunteers Will Do. 

Project Overview:

The initiative focuses on the comprehensive cleanup of George Street to enhance its appearance and safety. The effort involves removing dirt, weeds, and debris along various sections of the street.

Project #1: Road Cleanup

Activity Leader: Bridget Thomson

Objective: Utilize contractor brooms to clear dirt and weeds from the side of the road.


  1. Sweep the dirt and weeds from the edges of the road towards the center.

  2. Volunteers with gloves will then collect the debris and place it into trash bags.

  3. Ensure all swept debris is properly bagged and disposed of.

Tools Needed: Contractor Brooms

Volunteers Needed: 3

Pictures/Visualizations: Aim to clear the roadway edges, pushing debris to a central point for removal.

Project #2: Upper George Street Cleanup

Activity Leader: Deirdre Devine

Objective: Clean the dirt and leaves from the upper part of George Street, improving its overall cleanliness.


  1. Use hand shovels and mini hand rakes to gather dirt, leaves, and weeds from the roadside.

  2. Wear protective gloves to safely collect and bag the debris.

  3. Dispose of the collected waste in designated areas.

Tools Needed: Protective Gloves, Hand Shovels, Mini Hand Rakes, Trash Bags

Volunteers Needed: 3

Pictures/Visualizations: Focus on removing all visible dirt and foliage accumulation along the roadside.

Project #3: Middle George Street Cleanup

Activity Leader: Carpenter Desilva

Objective: Target the middle section of George Street for a thorough cleanup of dirt, weeds, and leaves.


  1. Deploy hand tools to efficiently remove and collect roadside debris.

  2. Bag all collected materials using trash bags, wearing gloves for protection.

  3. Ensure a neat and debris-free roadside upon completion.

Tools Needed: Protective Gloves, Hand Shovels, Mini Hand Rakes, Trash Bags

Volunteers Needed: 3

Pictures/Visualizations: Ensure consistent cleanliness across this segment, matching the efforts up and down George Street.

Project #4: Lower George Street Cleanup

Activity Leader: Madeline Bogdjalian

Objective: Conclude the street cleanup initiative by focusing on the lower part of George Street.


  1. Similar to the upper and middle sections, clean the roadside of all natural and man-made debris.

  2. Use gloves, shovels, and rakes to collect and bag the waste.

  3. Finalize the project with a thorough inspection of the area to ensure all debris is removed.
