Faces of Year 11

Working for Working is made up a dedicated group of talented college students who strive to improve the city! Each year, Working for Worcester recruits approximately 10 upperclassmen students and three first-year interns. 

Joseph McCarthy

Co-Director of Volunteer Recruitment

JP is a junior at the College of the Holy Cross and a native of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. He is currently pursuing a degree in International Studies. JP joined Working for Worcester in Year 6 as a volunteer at the Ascension After School Program and has volunteered every year since! He admired the bond the management team shared on his first Build Day and was inspired by the energy Worcester brought. He is thrilled to be a part of the management team and even more excited to give back to the city he calls home.

Thomas Keane

Director of Digital Platforms

Thomas is a junior economics and asian studies double major at Holy Cross and a hails from Reading, MA. Thomas joined W4W in Year 9 as volunteer and then in Year 10 he was a Co-Director of Site Development. In his current role in W4W, he is redesign the internal operating systems, including fundraising, volunteer management, and payment solutions. Thomas brings his overly enthusiastic persona to the team and his love for the city! He is excited to give back to the Worcester community he will call home for the next 2 years!

Nick Hale

Co-Director of Fundraising

Nick is a senior at the College of the Holy Cross, majoring in economics. He is from Raleigh, North Carolina and has been involved in community service events with the Carolina hurricanes in the past. This year is his second year working with the Fundraising Team. Nick's favorite part about last year was getting to know the people in the community and connecting/reconnecting them with Working for Worcester. A senior captain on the Men's Ice Hockey Team, Nick is excited to continue his journey with Working for Worcester and do his part in preparing for another successful Build Day.

Alexis Berard

Co-Director of Inventory and Purchasing

Alexis is a senior at the College of the Holy Cross, majoring in political science and minoring in food studies. She is from Farmington, CT and was involved with Habitat for Humanity in high school. She is excited to be a part of the management team this year and work on inventory and purchasing. She looks forward to developing her relationship with the city and help out with the build!

Claire Dailey

Co-Director of Events

Claire is a Senior at College of the Holy Cross from Rye, NY. She is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology. Claire joined Working for Worcester her freshman year as a site manager and this is third year on the Managing Team. Although her first Build Day was interrupted by the pandemic, she loved the teamwork and camaraderie that comes with being a part of the managing team. She can’t wait for Build Day this year and to have a great year 11.

Tess Kelly

Intern

Tess is a freshman at the College of the Holy Cross from Tiverton, Rhode Island. She is interested in pursuing a degree in Psychology. Tess has grown up volunteering within her community. Her passion for service sparked at a young age through the influence of her parents. She founded her own charity to raise money for animal shelters across the country. This is Tess’s first year on the Working for Worcester team. She is thrilled to join the group and make a difference within the Worcester community.

Will Kessler

Co-Director of Volunteer Recruitment

Will is senior at the College of the Holy Cross from Huntsville, Alabama. He is a political science major and Russian studies minor. Will first joined Working for Worcester in year 10 as a volunteer and is looking forward to working on volunteer recruitment this year. He is excited to join the Working for Worcester management team for year 11 and hopes to have a productive and successful year working for Worcester!

Kay McNamara

Co-Director of Site Development

Kay is currently a sophomore at Holy Cross from Brewster, Massachusetts. She's a double major in Political Science and Sociology. Kay joined the Working for Worcester team last year as an Executive Intern and was also a Site Manager at City View Elementary School. Kay is excited to continue her role on the Working for Worcester team and work with the Worcester community.

Jacob Milan

Co-Director of Fundraising

Jake is currently a Junior ability major at Holy Cross. In high school, he founded the Pollution Prevention Coalition to clean up parks and beaches in the Great Fall River, MA area. He joined Working for Worcester as a sophomore as a site manager for the Nativity School. Build day went well for him, and he was motivated to join the fundraising team to increase what he can do for the greater Worcester community. Jake is excited for what he can bring to the fundraising team of Working for Worcester.

Katie Gannon

Events Planner

Katie is currently a senior at the College of the Holy Cross from Sandown, New Hampshire. She is majoring in English, while pursuing a minor in Philosophy. Katie joined the Working for Worcester team last year and was a site manager at Vernon Hill Elementary School. Katie is excited to continue to work with the city of Worcester and develop relationships with the community.

Marley Rehm

Brand Manager

Marley is currently a sophomore at College of the Holy Cross from Bedford, NH. She is a double major, majoring in Biology and Studio Art. Marley plans to pursue further education as a Physicians Assistant following Holy Cross. After becoming involved with Girls Inc. in Worcester, Marley found Working for Worcester to be another amazing way to give back to the community and continue to give back to the kids that taught her what Worcester means. Marley joined the Working for Worcester team last year, volunteering at Pernet Family Health Service. After her first year, Worcester has become a second home for Marley and she looks forward to branching the gap between the community of Working for Worcester and the greater Worcester area.

Brielle Connelly

Co-Director Volunteer Recruitment

Brielle is a senior at the College of the Holy Cross and is from New Canaan, Connecticut. She is majoring in Economics and has been apart of the Working for Worcester team since her freshman year. Brielle is currently working on volunteer recruitment and is excited to grow the amount of build day volunteers from all Worcester schools. She has previously worked with site development and the event planning/social media team. This year, Brielle is looking forward to connecting with the Worcester community and bringing together the city for Year 11 Build Day!

Jake Lupo

Co-Director of Site Development

Jake is a senior at the College of the Holy Cross from Auburn, New York. He is majoring in History and hopes to continue his education in graduate school within the next couple of years. Jake joined Working for Worcester his freshmen year as a site manager and has been involved ever since. He looks forward to his new role in site development and to continue to actively engage and serve his adopted community after nearly 4 years of calling it home. When he's not involved in Working for Worcester, he is Co-Chair of Purple Key Society along with W4w's Charlie Doern, and a member of Holy Cross' Student Government Association where he continues to devote his time to his campus community. Mia Burgio

Co-Director Fundraising

Mia is a sophomore at the College of the Holy Cross, and she is from Buffalo, New York. She is a chemistry major. She joined Working for Worcester when she was a freshman, and she worked as a site manager for an organization in Worcester that housed families who deal with victims of medical illnesses. Mia is excited to give back to the community and further the Jesuit mission of being a woman for and with others. She is looking forward to being on a team with members who all share the same goal: working for the kids!

Kylie Hampton

Director of Social Media

Kylie is a junior at the College of the Holy Cross and is from Readington, NJ. She is majoring in Political Science, while pursuing a minor in Studio Art, and she is also a member of the varsity field hockey team. Kylie is excited to join Working for Worcester, and she is looking forward to giving back and connecting with the community, both in person and virtually, as Director of Social Media.

Tiana Wakefield

Intern

Tiana is a freshman at the College of the Holy Cross and is from Hanover, Massachusetts. She is still currently undeclared but her intended major is currently psychology with neuroscience. This is Tiana’s first year with Working for Worcester, but is so excited to get involved with the team! She loves volunteering, and has been involved in many previous service groups, and is looking forward to continuing that here.

Caitlin McCutcheon

Caitlin is a senior at the College of the Holy Cross and is from Gorham, Maine. She is pursuing a degree in Biology with a concentration in Biochemistry. Caitlin joined Working for Worcester in Year 8 as a Site Manager at Columbus Park High School and joined the leadership team in Year 9 as a Co-Director of Site Development. She served as the Director of Inventory and Purchasing in Year 10. Caitlin is excited to lead an amazing Managing Team, forge and sustain connections in the Worcester community, and to see Year 11's sites turn from RFP to reality!

Chief Financial Officer

Aidan Busconi

Aidan is a Junior at the College of the Holy Cross, where he is majoring in Biology. He is from Hopkinton, Massachusetts but went to high school in the city of Worcester and has been volunteering all over the city for the past seven years . He joined Working for Worcester as a volunteer in Year 7 and has volunteered ever since. Last year he was on the Site Development Team, this year he is taking up the role as Chief Financial Officer. He is super excited for Build Day Year 11!

Chief Operations Officer

Charlie Deorn

Charlie is a Senior at the College of the Holy Cross from Larchmont, New York. He is a Computer Science major at the college. Charlie Joined Working for Worcester in Year 8 as a site manager and was a site director for years 9 and 10. Last year he worked on one of the few remaining playground sites in Worcester, Vernon Hill Elementary School. Charlie aims to better the community that has been supporting him throughout his tenure at Holy Cross. This year, he is the Chief Operations Officer of the Organization. He is excited to see what this year will bring!
