Volunteer Tasks and Assignments:

Below is a Detailed Overview of The Assignments on Build Day That Volunteers Will Do. 

Project Overview:

Enhance the school's outdoor play area by installing a new swing set and barriers, adding mulch for safety and aesthetics, and refreshing the area with new paint.

 
Project #1: Barriers

Activity Leader: Luca Moscetti

Objective: Install new barriers around the play area to ensure safety and define play zones.

Plan:

  1. Mark the layout for the barriers using stakes and string.

  2. Dig holes for the barrier posts using shovels and pickaxes.

  3. Place the barriers in the pre-dug holes, ensuring they are level and spaced correctly.

  4. Use hammers to secure the barriers in place, filling in around the posts with dirt and packing it down for stability.

Tools Needed: Hammers, Shovels, Pickaxes

Volunteers Needed: 10

 
Project #2: Mulch

Activity Leader: Alex Michael

Objective: Spread mulch in designated play areas to provide a safe and aesthetically pleasing ground cover.

Plan:

  1. Coordinate the delivery of mulch to the site prior to the start of the project.

  2. Use wheelbarrows to transport mulch to specific areas.

  3. Spread mulch evenly using rakes, ensuring a consistent depth across all areas.

  4. Wear gloves to protect hands during the process.

Tools Needed: Wheelbarrows, Shovels, Rakes, Gloves

Volunteers Needed: ~10

 
Project #3: Paint

Activity Leader: Rory Hess

Objective: Refresh existing painted lines and add new creative paintings to the play area.

Plan:

  1. Clean the area to be painted, removing debris and dirt.

  2. Sketch out new designs and outline existing lines for repainting.

  3. Use paint brushes and paint to apply new designs and touch up existing lines.

  4. Allow paint to dry completely before allowing access to the area.

Tools Needed: Paint Brushes, Paint

Volunteers Needed: ~8-10

 
Project #4: Cleanup

Activity Leader: Ava Westfall

Objective: Clean up the existing play area and surrounding spaces to enhance the overall environment.

Plan:

  1. Collect debris, litter, and loose materials in trash bags.

  2. Use gloves for protection and trash cans for disposal.

  3. Ensure the area is tidy and free of potential hazards.

  4. Review the site for any final touch-ups or adjustments needed.

Tools Needed: Gloves, Trash Bags, Trash Cans

Volunteers Needed: ~5

 
Volunteer Management

Pre-Build Day & Build Day:

  • Pre-Build Day: Visit the site to confirm the plan and ensure that holes for barriers and swing sets are pre-dug and the area is ready for Build Day.

  • Build Day: Coordinate volunteer efforts, ensuring all projects are completed efficiently and safely.

Parking Situation: Ample parking available at the school.

Volunteer Transport: Luca Moscetti and Ava Westfall will provide transportation, supplemented by volunteers driving their own cars to ensure everyone has a means to get there.
