Volunteer Tasks and Assignments:

Below is a Detailed Overview of The Assignments on Build Day That Volunteers Will Do. 

Project Overview:

The initiative aims at a comprehensive setup of a STEM classroom, enhancing the learning environment with essential furniture and educational tools.

 
Project #1: Carrying Supplies

Activity Leader: [To Be Assigned]

Objective: Efficiently move all delivered supplies from outside the school into the STEM classroom.

Plan:

  • Organize volunteers into teams for the efficient transportation of supplies.

  • Ensure careful handling of all materials to prevent damage.

Tools Needed: N/A

Volunteers Needed: All volunteers

 
Project #2: Build Chairs

Activity Leader: [To Be Assigned]

Objective: Assemble chairs and arrange them around the classroom tables.

Plan:

  • Unbox the chairs and follow any assembly instructions (if assembly is required).

  • Position the chairs around the tables according to the classroom layout plan.

Tools Needed: None

Volunteers Needed: 12

 
Project #3: Build Stools

Activity Leader: [To Be Assigned]

Objective: Prepare stools for use around the VEX table.

Plan:

  • Unpack stools and place them around the VEX table.

  • Ensure stools are stable and positioned for easy access and use.

Tools Needed: None

Volunteers Needed: 5

 
Project #4: Build Tables

Activity Leader: [To Be Assigned]

Objective: Assemble hexagonal tables for collaborative student workspaces.

Plan:

  • Unbox table components and organize them by type.

  • Use screwdrivers to assemble tables according to the instructions.

  • Arrange the tables in the designated classroom layout.

Tools Needed: Screwdriver (12 required)

Volunteers Needed: 12

 
Project #5: Rearranging STEM Supplies

Activity Leader: [To Be Assigned]

Objective: Organize and label STEM supplies for efficient storage and accessibility.

Plan:

  • Sort large totes of supplies according to category.

  • Label new storage containers and distribute supplies accordingly.

  • Ensure all items are easily accessible for both teachers and students.

Tools Needed: Label Maker

Volunteers Needed: 5

 
Project #6: Assembly of Teacher’s Area

Activity Leader: [To Be Assigned]

Objective: Create a functional and organized teacher's area with necessary furniture.

Plan:

  • Assemble the teacher's tables and high chairs, following any provided instructions.

  • Arrange the furniture to optimize the teacher's classroom management and interaction with students.

Tools Needed: Screwdriver (4 required)

Volunteers Needed: 4

 
Volunteer Management

Pre-Build Day & Build Day:

  • Parking Situation: Adequate parking available in the lot in front of the school.

  • Volunteer Transport: Encourage carpooling to maximize parking availability and reduce environmental impact.

 
Additional Preparations:
  • Ensure the carpet is cleaned a day or two before the build day.

  • Schedule the last site drop-off for furniture in the cafeteria.

  • Plan for assembly and setup to occur within the cafeteria before moving items to the STEM classroom.
