Volunteer Tasks and Assignments:

Below is a Detailed Overview of The Assignments on Build Day That Volunteers Will Do. 

Project Overview:

To create a more engaging and flexible play area following the merger of two schools, incorporating new blacktop games and a soccer net to facilitate both educational and recreational activities.

 
Project #1: Assemble Soccer Net

Activity Leader: Patrick Walsh

Objective: Assemble and install soccer nets to provide a new activity area for soccer games.

Plan:

  1. Unpack the soccer net materials and lay them out according to the assembly instructions.

  2. Divide the volunteers into two teams, assigning 5 people to each goal for efficient assembly.

  3. Use the ladder as needed to secure the nets at the correct height.

  4. Ensure each goal is firmly anchored to the ground for safety.

Project #2: Repaint Blacktop Games

Activity Leader: Lauren Delucia

Objective: Refresh and enhance the visual appeal of existing blacktop games by repainting them.

Plan:

  1. Clean the blacktop surface to ensure the paint adheres properly.

  2. Outline the games using paint or chalk to ensure accuracy in design.

  3. Apply fresh coats of paint to the games, possibly updating or adding new designs as needed.

  4. Allow the paint to dry completely before allowing any foot traffic.

Tools Needed: Paint Brushes, Paint Cans (Various Colors)

Project #3: Clear Fence

Activity Leader: William Fletcher

Objective: Remove branches obstructing the fence line to enhance safety and aesthetics.

Plan:

  1. Identify sections of the fence that are obstructed by branches.

  2. Use hedge trimmers and clippers to carefully remove the branches.

  3. Collect the debris and place it in trash bags for disposal.

  4. Ensure the fence is clear and the surrounding area is clean.

Tools Needed: Hedge Trimmers, Clippers, Gloves, Trash Bags, Ladder

Volunteers Needed: 15

 
Project #4: Clear Fence/General Cleanup

Activity Leader: Nora Smillie

Objective: Continue clearing the fence of branches and conduct general cleanup activities around the school.

Plan:

  1. Focus on areas that require additional attention, ensuring all branches are removed from the fence.

  2. Perform a general cleanup of the surrounding area, collecting any litter or debris.

  3. Use trash bags to dispose of all waste collected during the cleanup process.

Tools Needed: Clippers, Gloves, Trash Bags, Ladder
