Below is a Detailed Overview of The Assignments on Build Day That Volunteers Will Do. 

Project Overview

The initiative aims to enrich Belmont Street School's play environment by enhancing outdoor play areas with Pavement Painting and various clean-up tasks

 
Project #1: Teeter Totter Removal

Activity Leader: Luke

Objective: Safely remove the old teeter totter from the school's play area under the guidance and assistance of Consigli Construction.

Plan:

  • Follow Consigli's instructions for the removal process to ensure safety and efficiency.

  • Use manual labor and any necessary equipment provided by Consigli to dismantle and remove the teeter totter.

  • Clear the area of debris and ensure it is left in a safe condition for future use.

Tools Needed: Consigli's equipment, shovels

Volunteers Needed: 5

 
Project #2: Mural Painting

Activity Leader: Gwen

Objective: Enhance the side of the school with a mural. If restoring the existing mural is not feasible, create a new vibrant design over the current unappealing white paint.

Plan:

  • Clean the wall to ensure a smooth painting surface.

  • Sketch the design or outline the new design directly on the wall.

  • Paint the wall using a variety of colors to bring the design to life.

Tools Needed: Paintbrushes, a variety of paint colors, paint tarps (2/3)

Volunteers Needed: 10

 
Project #3: Beautification/Mulch

Activity Leader: Tyler

Objective: Clean up the main play area, add new mulch, and plant flowers

Plan:

  • Clear the area of litter and debris.

  • Rake the soil and plant flowers in beds

  • Spread new mulch around play structures and planting areas.

  • Ensure the newly planted areas are watered and set up for healthy growth.

Tools Needed: Rakes, trash bags, gardening tools (trowels, spades, gloves)

Volunteers Needed: 5

 
Project #4: Painting

Activity Leader: Ryan

Objective: Refresh the appearance of the median/cul-de-sac area in front of the school and repaint the main play area at the back, improving the overall look and feel of the school grounds.

Plan:

  • Clean/Sweep the areas to be painted to ensure the paint adheres properly.

  • Paint the designated areas with vibrant, durable outdoor paint.

  • Use tape or stencils for any specific designs or patterns required

  • Place paint canisters on tarps and seal cans after use

Tools Needed: Paintbrushes, outdoor paint suitable for concrete and pavement, paint tarp
