What we collect

When you volunteer, propose a project, or contact us, we collect what you enter on that form: typically your name, email address, phone number, school or organization, and any details you choose to share about a project or your availability.

When you donate, your payment is processed by Givebutter. We receive your name, contact details, and donation amount so we can acknowledge the gift and meet our record-keeping obligations. We never see or store your full card or bank details.

How we use it

To organize Build Day: placing volunteers at sites, coordinating with project sites, and sending logistical updates about the event you signed up for.

To acknowledge and record donations, including issuing tax receipts.

To respond to what you asked us about.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Service providers that run parts of our operation, for example Givebutter for donations and our form and email tools, and only to the extent they need it to do that job.

Project sites and community partners, where coordinating your volunteer placement requires it.

Corporate partners receive aggregate information about their sponsored site. We do not give partners personal volunteer information.

Where the law requires it.

Volunteers under 18

Some volunteers are minors participating through schools or youth organizations. We collect only what is needed to run the event safely, and we work through the sponsoring school or organization for permissions. If you believe a minor has submitted information directly and you would like it removed, contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

Volunteer and contact records are kept as long as they are useful for running and improving Build Day. Donation records are kept as long as nonprofit financial and tax rules require.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will respond.

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add analytics to understand how the site is used, it will be a privacy-respecting tool and this policy will be updated first.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, and we keep payment processing with a specialist provider rather than handling card details ourselves. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise.
