Worcester Youth Center Project Recap

Picture
The Youth Center is one of the most important resources for the under-served kids and teens in the city.  The Youth Center works with hundreds of teens a year through their social programs.  Every year the get close to 1000 Worcester youth their GED, and they work with teens recently released from juvenile prison to help them acclimate and find a socially/economically stable footing. One of their strongest programs is for young women.  They have over 100 young women in their parenting classes, and they work closely with victims of sexual violence and addiction.  As Sam will tell you, the Youth Center's dance and music programs bring a great amount of joy and community to the center.  Through arts and recreation, the Youth Center empowers hundreds of kids by building self-esteem and encouraging community pride.

Working for Worcester took an "after-thought" room and turned it into a commercial grade, but character rich, dance studio.  We repaired holes in the walls, repainted, installed a commercial sound system, replaced broken mirrors, installed a commercial grade high-impact dance floor, built lockers and a changing bench, installed a ballet bar, fixed the ceiling tiles, and injected the space with plenty of character and heart!  The dancers at the Youth Center are incredibly talented and dedicated to their dance programs.  Our objective was always to give these teens the facility and level of caring that their talent deserves.  The studio space is used everyday by the dance groups (hip-hop, break-dance, and modern), dance classes, fitness classes, and impromptu dance parties that make the Youth Center the vibrant city treasure that it is.

Cite manager Jeff Reppucci planned and coordinated all aspects of the Worcester Youth Center project.  To learn more about Jeff and the rest of the managing team, click here.
